I was doing Gate of Pain to help my buds along and I got a nice piece of loot from a terrorweb dryder.

A singe Gold Coin?

What is this? I've looked on wiki/unofficial wiki discussions and money pages but nothing. Searched Guru and nothing (on first page: one gold coin drop). Anyone ever have this happen to them before?

I'm not sure, but I think it has happened to me, but not in gate of pain, I'm talking about in areas where ~5 cold coins is normal.

I would save that single coin, must be lucky or something.

It seems most likely. After all how would the party split one gold?

I also think that a player dropped it. When you pick up gold dropped by monsters you won't get the "You picked up the Gold Coin" message but a "Your party shares the following: 1 gold." message.

Good Try what? I'm not watching the chat bar in the middle of combat at midnight. I'm trying to get the job done. I don't doubt the possibility that one of them dropped it for lols but I am certainly not trying to pull anything off here.

As previous posters have said it was probably dropped by someone. Whenever my alliance runs mission/quest events that have tricky places on them it's customary for whomever is leading it to drop a gold coin as a marker point to remind people not to stray past it while the aggro is pulled. Handy for newer members to learn where things are best ambushed and reminders for us older ones that even though it's thought of as easy even we can still make mistakes.

Also note that when you drop gold there's no mention of it in the chatlog like weapons etc.
